The first ever Irish OpenDatathon was launched on 27 March 2018. The event will take place in Waterford City, hosted by Waterford Institute of Technology. Applications are invited from all over the country, for ideas that correlate two or more open datasets from the Department of Public Expenditure & Reform’s Open Data Unit web portal (data.gov.ie).

Applications are open to individuals and teams with very little restriction on how the idea is realised. Submissions do not have to use any specific technology for their implementation.

A presentation will be required for the event, when teams/individuals are given the opportunity to speak about the value of their project and the innovative outcome achieved by using the open datasets. The winner will be judged on the day of the event.
